The Woodlands Township Honors John Cooper Football With Formal Proclamation

THE WOOODLANDS, TX -- At the December 8 regular board meeting of The Woodlands Township, Chairman Gordy Bunch read a formal proclamation declaring December 8, 2021 as “The John Cooper School Football SPC (Southwest Preparatory Conference) Champions Day” to honor Cooper’s varsity football team as the school’s first SPC 3-A Football champions.

Assistant Football Coach Scott Holland, Cooper senior football player Jax Sisson, and Head of School-Elect Dr. Stephen Popp joined Head Football Coach Erik DeHaven as he accepted the honor (proclamation below).

BE IT PROCLAIMED:

Whereas, The John Cooper School’s football team won the school’s first Southwest Preparatory Conference 3A Football Championship in the School’s history; and

Whereas, The John Cooper Dragons finished the season with an 8-2 record overall, including a perfect 6-0 conference record; and

Whereas, The John Cooper School defeated Cistercian Prep 49-28 in the championship games; and

Whereas, William Bisso, Vaughn McKeever, Blake Pitts, Gamble Reed, Kielar Sullivan and Will Young have been recognized as All Conference performers by the SPC; and

Whereas, Program Head, Erik DeHaven, has been recognized by the Touchdown Club of Houston as the Private School Coach of the Year.

Now, therefore, I, Gordy Bunch, as Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Woodlands Township, do hereby proclaim Wednesday, December, 8, 2021 as:
