THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) is one of the top athletic conferences for independent schools in Texas and Oklahoma. The conference includes elite private schools – faith-based and secular alike – all throughout the Houston area. One spotlight member school of the conference is right here in The Woodlands: The John Cooper School.

Each year, member schools compete in three seasons – fall, winter, and spring – with championships held at the end of each season. The Spring Championship recently occurred, and The John Cooper School fought hard and prevailed with a considerable presence on the tote board of champions.

The Spring Championships featured competition in baseball, softball, track & field, golf, and tennis. Schools are grouped into divisions, which helps ensure competition based on school size. The John Cooper School's 2026 Spring Results in Division 3A had Cooper celebrating an outstanding spring season, highlighted by multiple top finishes:

  • Girls Tennis — 3A Champions
  • Boys Track & Field — 3A Champions
  • Baseball — Runners Up
  • Girls Track & Field — Runners Up
  • Girls Golf — 3rd Place
  • Boys Golf — 4th Place
  • Softball — 5th Place
  • Boys Tennis — 4th Place

Cooper also had several individual champions in golf and track and field, marking Cooper’s first-ever boys track and field SPC championship and first-ever girl’s Tennis SPC Championship in the school's history. These results reflect a strong, well-rounded athletic program, with success across both individual and team-based sports.

Winning an SPC 3A championship means finishing first among similarly sized schools in the conference – making John Cooper’s titles in girls' tennis and boys track & field significant achievements within Texas private school athletics.

John Hoye, Director of Athletics at John Cooper, summed up the season. “The spring season results highlight the hard work our student-athletes have put in over the past several months. We couldn’t be prouder of their collective effort and accomplishments. These achievements reflect the dedication of both our coaches and athletes. Go Dragons!” he told Woodlands Online.
