THE WOODLANDS, TX – When last we left off about 10 days ago (and apologies; rest assured that flu season is still alive and well in these pandemic times), we had hopes that the weather would settle down a tad and become a little more seasonal. But a change is in the air – literally – and we wanted to bring you a special Wednesday update.

Grab your coats and umbrellas

Stormy weather will be hitting us starting midafternoon, with precipitous clouds segueing into thunderstorms and about a third of an inch of rain expected to drop. Over the next few hours leading up to the storms, our temps will steadily climb through the 60s into the mid-70s; that, combined with the current 100-percent humidity, will make for some very sticky conditions.

The storms will continue for six or seven hours, with the temperatures dropping as steadily as the rain. Beware high winds and possible hail! Before midnight tonight, we should be back to cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid-50s. Overnight, we’ll plunge into the mid-30s – not enough to have to bring in your plants and cover your pipes, but enough to definitely bring the pets in for some dry warmth. For you budding nighttime photographers, however, the waning gibbous moon will bring 98 percent illumination, making for some potentially gorgeous landscape shots.

Tomorrow definitely falls under the ‘dreary’ category – cloudy skies and temperatures around the 40s all day. While there isn’t projected to be any ice on the roads, they’ll still be slick from the previous day’s rains, so please exercise caution when driving or riding. All day Thursday will stay positively British, weather-wise, so make sure to have some peppy tunes on your playlight to get you over the ponderous funk the dark clouds might bring. And be extra careful on the roads coming home from work tomorrow, as temps will plunge into the low 30s overnight.

Friday, we’ll get a reprieve from emotionally-bumming weather as the clouds part a bit and the sun peeks through, warming things just a tad into the 40s. But be prepared to wrap your pipes and plants before the sun sets, because there will definitely be a freeze that night.

Come back to us on Friday as Woodlands Online Weather brings you the weekend forecast.
