HS Volleyball Playoffs: The Woodlands Clash with Tomball in Nail-biting Match

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands comes into the regional quarterfinals after defeating Cypress Ranch in three sets while Tomball does the same with Conroe. The Woodlands won the coin toss and decided to have a home court advantage.

As the stands began to get packed full of students, parents and fans, the tension kept rising in anticipation for the first serve. Tomball served first but The Woodlands was able to strike first. It was a tense battle as the teams went point for point with multiple ties and lead changes. It was The Woodlands who was able to take the lead late in the set and keep it making it a 25-20 win.



Tomball would come out swinging in the second set with multiple attacks and tight defense. Once again it would go point for point with many lead changes and ties. The Woodlands would take a late lead but it wasn’t enough to hold off Tomball as they tied the match up 1-1.



Set three was much like the first two as both teams would showcase intense attacks and nail-biting digs and saves on defense. The Woodlands would take the lead but it was Tomball who would make a last-minute comeback and take the set which gave them the match lead.



The fourth set was unlike the other three in which The Woodlands took a massive lead and kept it throughout the set. The Lady Highlanders would turn up and lockdown the defense keeping Tomball to a single digit score. With the momentum on The Woodlands side, they would force a fifth set tiebreaker which would determine the winner of the match.



In the final set The Woodlands would take the lead but Tomball was right on their heels. Tomball would make one last effort to take the lead which would come close but The Woodlands would close out the set 15-13. They will move on to the Regional Semifinals to take on Waxahachie in the Lufkin Multipurpose Complex.
