HOUSTON, TX -- Rebecca Broussard was sworn in as the newest Lone Star College System Trustee during a special ceremony Dec. 8 held in Texas State Sen. Brandon Creighton’s office. Broussard was elected to represent District 7 in the LSCS Election held Nov. 8.

“I look forward to working with my fellow Trustees to ensure Lone Star College students continue to receive the resources necessary to help them succeed,” said Broussard. “I would also like to thank the voters in District 7 for their support.”

In addition to Broussard being elected, David Vogt and Myriam Saldívar were reelected in the Nov. 8 election. They will be sworn in during the LSCS Board of Trustees meeting Dec. 13. Board Members are elected as representatives of nine single-member districts by citizens in the LSCS in-district service area in November of even-numbered years and serve terms of six years each.

“Trustee Broussard brings many years of experience working in education, and I look forward to her sharing her knowledge and expertise with us,” said Stephen C. Head, Ph.D., LSC Chancellor. “I would also like to congratulate Trustees Vogt and Saldívar on being reelected.”

Prior to being elected an LSCS Trustee, Broussard served on the Willis ISD school board for more than 21 years. Broussard holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Education from Sam Houston State University.

“I am excited about this next chapter which will allow me to continue to make education accessible to everyone,” said Broussard.

LSCS Board of Trustees are responsible for ensuring that the Lone Star College System is an integral part of their communities and serve their ever-changing needs. All board members represent LSCS as residents within the LSCS District and serve without remuneration or emolument of office except where benefits are provided by state law.
