THE WOODLANDS, TX -- In their first district game back from competing in a tournament in California, The Woodlands Highlanders hosted the Willis Wildkats at home Wednesday night. The Woodlands is coming off a previous district loss and looks to turn things around while Willis is trying to keep their streak alive after defeating Caney Creek before the holidays.

In the first half of the first quarter, Willis would keep it close, tying the score and going point for point with The Woodlands. After the four-minute mark, The Woodlands began to run away with the score. The Highlander defense locked down the paint and Willis struggled from outside. Shey Eberwein would lead The Woodlands in the first, scoring 9 out of the 20 points.

Once again in the second Eberwein would be on fire as he led the team with 15 additional points. The Woodlands would turn up the heat on offense and on defense they would close the lanes and force bad looks at the basket for Willis. The Woodlands would outscore Willis 21 to 11 and take a 41 to 22 lead at the half.

The Wildkats would come out in the third but essentially be stopped once again by the Highlander defense. Ty Nixon and Jevin Allen would score the only points for Willis in the third, while The Woodlands would hit five buckets for 12 points.

In the fourth Willis would turn up and hit many three pointers but The Woodlands would have a huge lead that it was nearly impossible for them to get close. The Woodlands would increase their lead and take the win 74-44.

Willis will face Oak Ridge next on Saturday while The Woodlands has a bye week.
