THE WOODLANDS, TX – Quote of the week: “No winter lasts forever; no spring skips its turn.” — Hal Borland

We’re creeping ever so closer to springtime, and the weather reflects it (to the extent that local school districts’ Spring Breaks start up this weekend, and it’s still winter for two weeks). Here’s a list of five of our waning-winter wonderful events just for you!

Wednesday, March 8
The Woodlands Children’s Museum
’s popular program, Crazy About Critters, hosts The Learning Zoo today at 11:00 a.m. Laugh, learn, and get hands-on during an educational animal encounter on stage with The Learning Zoo. Included in the cost of admission, which is $8 per person 1 year and older.

Friday - Sunday, March 10 - 12
Join The Woodlands Resort
for the best Spring Break ever! Your family will create lasting memories with one of their Spring Break packages. Guests of all ages will have access to the fantastic Forest Oasis pool complex with just opened Deep End Bar & Grill, water slides, splash pad and 1,005-foot lazy river, plus spring break programming including DJ, poolside games, arts & crafts, foam party, poolside karaoke, pickleball and tennis, outdoor movies, and more. Cap off your day at Back Table Kitchen & Bar, which now showcases live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

Friday - Sunday, March 10 - 12
It’s the penultimate weekend of Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and once again The Woodlands Express offers riders a convenient trip to the event. The Woodlands Express, the Township’s Park and Ride transportation service, will ferry riders from Sawdust Park and Ride, 701 Westridge Road, to NRG Stadium for the Bar-B-Que Contest and during each weekend of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, allowing attendees to enjoy all the fun without all the frustration of parking and driving. The cost of round-trip transportation to the event is $13 per person. Reservations are required. The Woodlands Express regular tickets are not valid for this service.

Saturday, March 11
It’s time for the 16th Annual Creekwood Fishing Derby
– hosted by The Woodlands Township and going down at Creekside Park. This terrific tradition is for all ages. Bring your fishing poles and they’ll provide the bait. T-shirts are given on a first come, first served basis. Prizes will be awarded for longest, heaviest, and smallest fish caught. Sponsored by The Woodlands Professional Firefighters Association. No registration required, and this event is free!.

Saturday, March 11
Enjoy an afternoon outdoors with family and friends at Arts in the Park
, presented by The Township and happening at Northshore Park. This free event features local vendors selling original artwork, live stage entertainment, children’s activities, food trucks, and more. Artists 18 and younger are encouraged to create their very own masterpiece and enter the Youth Art Contest. Submissions will be on display at the event and first, second and third place winners from each category will be recognized on stage during the festival.
