THE WOODLANDS, TX – Quote of the week: “Sometimes I wonder if all this is happening because I didn’t forward that email to 10 people.” — Multiple sources

It may be a wet and stormy off and on this week, but we here at Woodlands Online are more “glass full” kind of people when it comes to talking about our awesome events. Here’s our list of the top five that – rain or shine – will be worth your while.

Tuesday, May 16
Talk about the community coming together for a worthy cause! Mel’s Country Cafe
has been a local staple for countless people over the years. Recently, the popular eatery (and home of the towering Mel’s Burger) suffered extensive fire (and water) damage. To help the employees out while they wait for repairs to be completed, Sawyer Park Icehouse has decided to help in any way they can, so they partnered up with Gordon Food Services to throw a benefit. Today, all proceeds from its special event will go to support Mel’s. There will be raffles, food, music, and a silent auction. Your $20 ticket comes with Chicken Fried Steak with Green Beans & Mashed Potatoes.

Hop in the car or take the trolley – but don’t crash – to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion
tonight as the Dave Matthews Band takes the stage. Dave (along with current members of the band Carter, Stefan, Tim, Rashawn, Jeff, and Buddy) will bring some of their greatest hits to thousands of fans. The Pavilion wants to remind you that there are new and particular bag size limit requirements and restrictions, to be sure to check out the event link before you head over.

Sunday, May 21
Dosey Doe - The Big Barn
has a laid-back, folksy, relaxing, yet energizing evening planned for you with the arrival of American singer/songwriter David Wilcox on the stage to perform his awesome acoustic set. Ever since his debut album in 1987, Wilcox has been bringing his style – likened to that of Joni Mitchell and James Taylor – to appreciative audiences for decades. We’d be remiss if we didn’t point out that this isn’t the Canadian rocker of the same name; ‘our’ David is 100 percent all-American and ready to regale you. Kitchen opens at 5:30, so arrive early to enjoy dinner!
