THE WOODLANDS, TX – The community is asking for help for Debbie Pirkle, a first grade teacher at Legacy Preparatory Christian Academy, in her second battle with breast cancer.

A GoFundMe fundraising account has been created on her behalf by Robyn Ketchey and has raised more than $10,000.

“I am so humbled by the support I have received from so many, and I truly appreciate the willingness to give,” Pirkle said. “The next few weeks are going to be a blur of appointments in preparation for the start of chemo on September 8. I don't want to neglect this opportunity to let everyone know how deeply loved I feel. It is such a blessing to be part of the Legacy family.”

The fundraiser was set up to assist Mrs. Pirkle with costs associated with her treatment and recovery; expected expenditures may include gas for travel to appointments, parking at medical facilities, costs not covered by health insurance, meals, over-the-counter medicines, and comforts.

“This fundraiser is for the Legacy Prep family to bless Mrs Debbie Pirkle who is fighting her second battle with breast cancer,” said Ketchey. “If your child has been through Kinder or 1st grade at Legacy over the last 19 years, your family has likely been blessed by her loving and gentle spirit. She beat the cancer six years ago while showing astonishing dedication to her students.”

Members of the public who even don’t have a relationship with Legacy Prep can donate to the cause by reaching the fundraising page at https://www.gofundme.com/f/mrs-debbie-pirkle.
