THE WOODLANDS, TX – Well, you asked for it, you got it. Hot and dry weather is so last week now, and you can look forward to a long weekend of high winds, dropping temps, and falling rain. Welcome to autumn, Woodlands style.

Cool and stormy all weekend long

The high humidity, low dew points, near-total cloud cover, and rising pressure system are all working together to keep the rest of your Friday cold and wet and grey. We long passed our high of 59, and will stay in the 50s until possibly Sunday. The rains may have settled down for the nonce, but rest assured they’re not gone, and will only increase as the hours progress. You might want to enjoy some indoor entertainment and catch the John Cooper School’s opening performance of Shrek: The Musical.

On Saturday, most of the morning and a good percentage of the afternoon will ‘enjoy’ rain showers. As the pressure system increases and the humidity stays at close to 100 percent, the thermometer might dip up to 60, but even if so it would be brief. You can kiss off seeing the sun, as the clouds will provide a total screen between earth and the heavens. This is perfect weather for cozy encounters in intimate settings; and Dosey Doe Breakfast, BBQ & Whiskey Bar has just the thing as American Idol contestant Jade Flores takes the stage. As Saturday bleeds into Sunday, the chance of continuing rain will remain low-key but still present.

Sunday will see a turn to the tale as the dew point takes a hike up and the humidity dips. The morning will be relatively dry – but by no means completely so – as the hidden sun warms things up all the way to a high of 69. With luck, it’ll stay dry enough for you and the kiddos to enjoy the Children’s Fest at the Pavilion. But as afternoon hits and the temperature drops, there will be a massive increase in rains that will pound your windows all night and well into Monday…
