THE WOODLANDS, TX – Quote of the week: “How do mountains stay warm in the winter? They put on their snowcaps.” — Some dad somewhere.

Do you hear what we hear? Holiday merriment abounds throughout The Woodlands. True, the chances of us enjoying a White Christmas are about as probable as an armadillo winning the Nobel Prize for Literature, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t tons of events to get us into the spirit. Here’s a list of our top five!

All Week, December 4 - 10

It’s a Santa Hat Scavenger Hunt at The Adventure Begins! Embark on a whimsical Christmas hat hunt through the comics, games and more. Join in a joyous quest to find Santa's hat, starting today and running until December 24. Kids 12 years old and under can search the shop for the Santa hat. One stamp will earn a small prize, three stamps will get you a bigger prize, and once you get all five stamps, you get another prize and can turn in your passport to be entered into the Grand Prize giveaway on December 24. Some restrictions apply, so see a store associate for details when you show up.

Tuesday, December 5

There’s a new twist on the traditional storytime at the George & Cynthia Woods Mitchell Library today starting at 1:30 p.m. with their Stories & Crafts Day. The program is designed for ages 4 - 8, but younger children are welcome with adult assistance on the crafts.

There’s some family-friendly outdoor holiday fun tonight thanks to The Woodlands Township, who is the Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt for ages 5 and up, taking place at Terramont Park. Someone jolly sprinkled the grounds at the park with sweet treats to hunt in the dark, and you can bring your flashlights to help find them. Prizes will be awarded to the candy cane hunters who find the “golden” candy canes. Parents must accompany children (no charge for adults). Please note, hunts begin 15 minutes after the start time. Fee (Per Person): $10 Resident; $15 Non-Resident. Two time slots are available: 6 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, December 9

Come celebrate the Christmas Season at The Ridge Church’s Women’s Christmas Brunch and Ornament Exchange today from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Connect with other women, and enjoy a potluck-style brunch and ornament gift exchange ($10 value or less). Such a great opportunity to get to know other women, connect with ones you haven’t seen in a while and kick off the season with good food, laughter and love. Once you've registered, a confirmation email with a link to sign up for a brunch item will be emailed to you.

Sunday, December 10

It’s time for the bestest bois and gurlz to get their annual pet pictures with Santa!
