CONROE, TX --- On Monday, December 4, 2023, Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office prosecutors Shanna Redwine and Brittany Hansford selected a jury. The prosecutors then began testimony in the State of Texas vs. Tyler Douglas Clark for the charges of Assault Family Violence Deadly Weapon with Prior Conviction, and Aggravated Kidnapping. Prosecutors presented evidence that in October of 2022, Clark kidnapped his girlfriend and severely beat her for over an hour as he drove her down Highway 99 from Harris County into Montgomery County. Clark ruthlessly struck the victim with his fists and a tire tool. He also repeatedly bit his girlfriend before she was able to escape. A bystander found the victim covered in bruises running out of a ditch near the Lake Houston Wilderness Park and rushed her to a hospital for medical care.

The jury quickly found Clark guilty on both charges.

During punishment proceedings, prosecutors presented evidence that Clark has twice been to prison for five felony charges, including two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Burglary of a Habitation, Violation of a Protective Order, and Prohibited Substance in a Correctional Facility. The jury heard from three additional victims of the defendant, each describing serial domestic abuse at his hands. Prosecutors also presented evidence that the defendant is a confirmed Captain of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas. The jury assessed a Life sentence on the Assault charge and an additional 30-year sentence on the Kidnapping charge, sentences to run concurrently. The defendant will not become eligible for parole for at least 30 years.

The Harris County Pct. 4 Constables Office, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Montgomery County Forensic Services Department, and Texas Prison Office of Inspector General assisted in providing evidence and support necessary to bring justice to the victim and safety the people of Montgomery County.

Division Chief Shanna Redwine: "Tyler Cark’s reign of terror is finally over. Thanks to the strength of the survivors of Clark’s abuse, the bravery of the citizens who offered help, and the work of law enforcement in this case, our county is safer today than it was yesterday."

District Attorney Brett Ligon: “Tyler Clark earned every day of his life sentence. A ranking documented gang member, a morally bankrupt predator who once beat his own mother was confronted with the last of his many victims. Montgomery County owes this victim a debt of gratitude for having the strength to face him in the courtroom. It‘s fitting that her testimony was the last thing he will hear from someone who isn‘t either an inmate or a prison guard for the remainder of his natural life.“
