THE WOODLANDS, TX – It’s a misnomer to think it’s spring right now; even though we’re firmly in the local school districts’ Spring Break, and just the other night we did the ‘Spring Forward’ changing of the clocks, this is actually the last full week of winter. And much like many parents may not know exactly how to handle each this day, neither does the weather.

Grey skies and growing chances of rain

We’re about to hit our afternoon high of 73, make chillier by the winds that have been gusting up to 10 mph. The clouds have dropped a bit, and for the first part of the night we should have clear skies as we finally get down to a low of 53.

The dew point will steadily rise – actually, over the next several days – as the pressure slowly lessens overnight and through Tuesday, resulting in much cloudier and warmer weather; we’ll get up to 80 under near-total cloud coverage. It may threaten to rain all day and night, but we here at Woodlands Online think it’s more bark than bite as the humidity wavers and we get down to a low of 64.

On Wednesday, conditions will continue on the tracks formed the day before, leaving even more clouds and an afternoon high all the way up to 85, with a couple of degrees tacked on as a heat index. As the day progresses, however, some clouds will wander away, allowing the sun to peak out. Shortly after sundown, however, they’ll return with a vengeance, this time will bring some rain with them.

Coming out of the overnight low of 69, Thursday will see increasing chances of rain every hour, with some isolated thunderstorms as the clouds and sun both fight for supremacy. As the battle continues throughout the day and into the evening, the clouds will win out and so will the storms. We’ll have another low of 69, but this time the rumbling of thunder should see you through the night and into Friday.

The final day of the traditional work week will see several hours’ worth of thunderstorms, peaking in the late afternoon and early evening. The mercury will struggle to get up to 80, but again the humidity will add on a couple of degrees to the heat index. As you crawl into bed Friday night, you can expect a weekend of cooler and wetter weather…

Stay tuned to Woodlands Online for our Weekend Weather report coming on Friday.
