Child Predator Arrested in The Woodlands

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- On Wednesday, May 29th, 2024, Constable Ryan Gable’s Criminal Investigations Division, with assistance from members of the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, the Houston Police Department, and the La Porte Police Department executed a residential search warrant at a residence located in Tomball, Texas.

The search warrant stemmed from a Montgomery County Pct. 3 Detective’s proactive investigation into the offense of promotion and distribution of child pornography into The Woodlands. The investigation found that the defendant, Derek Joseph Moe, was associated with promoting and possessing thousands of images depicting infant and toddler aged child sexual assault material. Moe was charged with five counts of promotion/distribution of child pornography in Montgomery County. Moe was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and is currently being held on a $150,000 bond. Further investigation found that Moe is currently employed as a SCUBA Instructor for a SCUBA Dive School located in The Woodlands, Montgomery County.
