HOUSTON, TX -- Lone Star College’s Internal and Community Relations and LSC-Montgomery’s lifePATH® program have partnered to host the Untapped Business Solutions for a Neurodiverse Workforce Conference to assist businesses wanting to recruit and retain neurodiverse employees. The conference, sponsored by the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities, will be held May 30 from 8 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., at LSC-System Office, The Woodlands in the Community Building.

“Neurodiversity is the different ways people think, learn and process information and includes individuals with autism, ADHD, dyslexia and other learning differences,” said Yolanda Lopez, Ed.D., LSC manager, Community Relations. “This conference will provide companies and organizations with effective strategies that will help expand their talent pipeline, while providing our neurodiverse students with viable employment opportunities.”

Additionally, the conference will:

  • Educate and equip business and community partners with tools and resources to recruit and retain neurodiverse employees;
  • Raise awareness of LSCS’s neurodiversity initiatives;
  • Strengthen and develop community partnerships; and
  • Expand employment opportunities for all Lone Star College students.

“Neurodiverse individuals make up 20% of the population, offering a vast, untapped talent pool,” said Lopez. “Join us for an exciting opportunity to learn from our dynamic speakers, who will share powerful strategies and inspiring success stories on recruiting and retaining qualified neurodiverse employees.”
