UPDATE: Woodlands Firefighter Injured During Apparatus Check Expected to Be Released from Hospital This Weekend

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Fire Department is pleased to report that Firefighter John Rigoni, who sustained serious injuries during a routine apparatus check on Thursday, June 26, 2025, is recovering well and is expected to be released from the hospital this weekend.
At approximately 6:55 a.m. on June 26, Firefighter Rigoni was injured while conducting standard inspections on a fire engine at Station 7. During the process, he came into contact with the station’s overhead ventilation fan, resulting in significant injuries.
Rigoni received immediate care from his fellow firefighters and Harris County Emergency Services District 11 Medic 407. He was subsequently airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center for further treatment. His condition has since been upgraded to serious but stable.
Emergency response teams from the Harris County Constable’s Office, Precinct 4, as well as Montgomery County Hospital District Medic 23 and District 2, provided additional support at the scene.
The Woodlands Township is following all established protocols for workplace injuries, and an internal review of the incident is underway.
“We are incredibly grateful for the swift response from our crew and local emergency partners,” said Fire Chief [Insert Name]. “The outpouring of support for Firefighter Rigoni and The Woodlands Fire Department has been deeply appreciated by our entire team.”
The Woodlands Fire Department thanks the community for their continued thoughts, prayers, and support during Rigoni’s recovery.
