New Caney Resident Facing Multiple Arson Charges after Setting Fires that nearly Killed Elderly Female
NEW CANEY, TX -- On July 09, 2025 at approximately 1:48 AM, East Montgomery County Firefighters and Law Enforcement responded to reports of a mobile home on fire in the 20000 block of Ada Ln in New Caney, TX. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy C. Wood and Montgomery County Pct. 4 Deputy Constable D. Fields were among the first to arrive and reported that an elderly female was trapped in her bedroom. They were able to rescue her through the window of her bedroom, just as Fire and EMS crews began arriving at the scene. The resident was stabilized by MCHD EMS and transported from the scene with life threatening smoke inhalation injuries.
Shortly after the first fire, at 2:36 AM, another nearby home was reported to be on fire. The second fire was in a vacant 1 story home approximately 1,000 feet away from the mobile home fire. Both fires were controlled and extinguished before they could spread to other buildings.
MCFMO Fire Investigators responded to the scenes and began a lengthy investigation into the origin and cause of the fires, eventually determining that both fires were intentionally set. During the course of the investigation, MCFMO Officers identified 31 yr. old Kyle Anthony Williams, an ex-boyfriend of one of the residents, as a person of interest, and began an extensive search for him across the Houston area.
On July 15th, MCFMO Case Agent A. Aguirre received notification that a Galveston County Deputy Sheriff had located Kyle Williams after he fled from Officers during a traffic stop. Williams was taken into custody for evading arrest and held on two unrelated active warrants from Montgomery County. He has an extensive criminal history including indecency with a child, family violence and drugs.
MCFMO Investigators learned during the investigation that Kyle Williams had made statements admitting that he had set the fires and that he believed he had hurt someone. At the time of the fire, it wasn’t clear that the female victim would survive her injuries, but she has since recovered well enough to be discharged from the hospital.
After reviewing the results of their investigation with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, MCFMO Investigators charged Kyle Williams with two counts of 1st Degree Felony Arson and he is currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail.
In addition to the quick work by Firefighters to bring both fires under control, the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office would like to recognize the follow Officers for their assistance.
MCSO Deputy C. Wood and Constable PCT 4 D. Fields for their lifesaving actions that led to the rescue of the trapped victim and her ultimate survival.
Galveston County Sheriff’s Deputy C. Guyton for his work identifying and locating the person of interest in this investigation, safely bringing an end to this criminal episode.
