Lone Star College System connects veterans to benefits at On-the-Spot Certification events

HOUSTON, TX -- Lone Star College System is making it easier for veteran and military-affiliated students to access their educational benefits ahead of the 2025-26 school year with On-the-Spot Certification this August.

Students can have their certification requests reviewed and submitted to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs on the same day to determine their eligibility for benefits.

“Transitioning from military to civilian life presents unique challenges for many of our veterans,” said Vickie Johnson, LSC executive director, Veteran Services. “Through comprehensive wraparound services, Lone Star College Veteran Services is committed to guiding veterans on a path to success academically, professionally and personally. Our goal is to ensure every veteran has the support and resources needed to thrive in this next chapter of their journey.”

Student Veterans of America estimates nearly two-thirds of student veterans are first-generation college students. Resources available through LSC Veteran Services include specialized advising, financial aid assistance, career counseling, resume support and connections to nonprofit partners.

On-the-Spot Certification events are scheduled to take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the following LSC campuses.

• LSC-Kingwood: Aug. 4, Technology Instructional Building, Room 107
• LSC-Montgomery: Aug. 5, Building A, Room 229
• LSC-University Park: Aug. 6, Building 13, Room 210
• LSC-Tomball: Aug. 7, South Building, Room 205
• LSC-CyFair: Aug. 12, Technology Building, Room 202
• LSC-North Harris: Aug. 13, Digital Technology Building, Room 103
• LSC-Houston North Victory: Aug. 14, Room 102
