THE WOODLANDS, TX -- At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, August 7, The Woodlands Fire Department (TWFD) responded to a reported structure fire on Auger Place in the Village of Grogan’s Mill.
Upon arrival, Engine 101, Truck 101, and Battalion 101 encountered heavy flames coming from the rear of a two-story, single-family residence. Firefighters initiated an aggressive exterior attack, quickly knocking down the visible flames before entering the home to combat interior fire conditions present on both floors.
Crews were able to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes of arrival. The residents were home at the time of the incident but were able to evacuate safely before emergency crews arrived. The home sustained significant damage from both the fire and firefighting efforts.
One firefighter was evaluated by Montgomery County Hospital District (MCHD) personnel for heat exhaustion.
TWFD received assistance on scene from MCHD, South Montgomery County Fire Department, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office.
