What and where on a wet Woodlands weekend

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The storms have been rumbling all throughout Friday, and we’re about to get some wet stuff to kick off the long weekend, thanks to Labor Day Monday. All weekend long it’s predicted to precipitate to some extent or another. Whether it’s light pitter-patter or booming storms, this might be a good weekend to enjoy indoors. On the plus side, our highs may not even break 90 next week!
Friday
As the pressure front crumbles and the humidity jacks up, you can expect some heavy thunderstorms this evening as you enjoy a precipitous temperature drop of about five degrees in an instant and cooling steadier until we hit an overnight low of only 74. Expect more than in inch of rain to drop in short time. While the rain may abate a bit overnight, the clouds and wetness in the air will remain.
Fielding’s Local Kitchen + Bar is celebrating the weekend with three days of Labor Day Weekend Brunch from tonight Friday through Sunday. They will have yummy Labor Day bites and festive cocktails for brunch and dinner all weekend.

Saturday
All day, the weather will flirt between ‘mostly cloudy’ and ‘rainy,’ but it’s undisputed that the clouds will cover the sky at near full capacity all day and night. This might be the literal calm between the storms, so pick some daylight hours to do some errand-running if need be. The high will hit 90 but go no higher, and the low will even be a degree or two cooler than the night before.

Sunday
Scattered thunderstorms are the name for the day from dawn to dusk and beyond. While not as heavy as Friday’s (or Monday's) storms, it will be a lot wetter than Saturday. Slowly but sure the pressure front will start creeping in intensity, but not enough to change the pattern of storms. We’ll have the coolest high of the week of only 85 degrees, and the overnight low will keep dropping until it threatens to hit the 60s.
Since the weather is decidedly British today, why not go all the way in and enjoy a British-style high tea at The Tea Kettle Cafe? Head to Old Town Spring for an afternoon tea with a modern twist. If you have never experienced this special treat before it is an absolute must! Reservations are required for this service.

Monday
Workers, unite! We at the Woodlands Online Weather Office suggest you do so by staying at home under the covers and enjoy a lazy day of TV-watching or book-reading. The storms today may not be as intense as Friday’s wet conflagration, but what it lacks in scale more than makes up in scope, as your chance of seeing clear skies for the first time will be just as the sun is going down. It’ll be the coolest day yet with a high of 84 and a low of 71.
Suffering from artist’s block? Does your pile of unbuilt and unpainted minis keep growing bigger? Bring what supplies you have for an afternoon of fun at The Adventure Begins for Monday Hobbying. They also provide paints, paper, water cups, brushes, mechanical pencils, and paper plates to serve as palettes to all participants. This hobby night offers a space away from home to work on any and all projects alongside fellow hobbyists and artists in your friendly local game store.

When it’s finally time to head back to the office, you can enjoy a week of sunny weather with highs in the upper 80s, the way a September is supposed to start off around here.
