THE WOODLANDS, TX -- At approximately 3:00 PM on Wednesday afternoon, The Woodlands Fire Department responded to a request for mutual aid from the South Montgomery County Fire Department regarding a commercial structure fire at the Sawdust Retail Center, located at 202 Sawdust Road.

Units from The Woodlands Fire Department, including Truck 101, Engine 103, and Battalion 101, arrived on scene to find a fire burning on the roof of the strip center. Preliminary reports indicate the blaze was ignited after a passing vehicle struck power lines in the alley behind the building.

Once the building was safely de-energized, firefighters quickly contained and extinguished the fire, preventing further damage to the structure and ensuring the safety of nearby businesses and patrons.

The Woodlands Fire Department commends the swift coordination between responding crews and reminds the public to remain cautious around downed or damaged power lines.
