MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- Montgomery County Food Bank hosted its 13th annual Shootout Hunger Sporting Clays Tournament, presented by Cowboy Kia, on September 12, 2025, at Blackwood Sporting Co. in Conroe. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of sponsors, participants, and the community, proceeds from the event will help provide more than 670,000 meals for children, families, seniors, and veterans facing hunger in Montgomery County.

With Montgomery County Food Bank’s sourcing and buying power, every one dollar raised helps provide up to four meals for neighbors in need.

More than 180 shooters took part in the day’s competition. Top sponsors including Cowboy Kia, H-E-B, and Expand Energy played a key role in the event’s success, ensuring the Food Bank continues to meet the growing need for food assistance in the community.

Participants heard from Jim Carman, President of the Houston Region for Howard Hughes and Board Chair, and Kristine Marlow, President & CEO of Montgomery County Food Bank, who shared her gratitude for everyone in attendance.

“Shootout Hunger shows the heart of Montgomery County at its best — a community coming together for friendly competition, excitement, and a shared purpose of compassion, strength, and hope,” said Kristine Marlow, President & CEO of Montgomery County Food Bank. “It is more important than ever for our community to unite in promoting the common good.”

The tournament highlighted not only the spirit of unity in the fight against hunger, but also the camaraderie of the clayshooting competition. Attendees enjoyed bidding on silent auction items, breakfast and lunch, and complimentary gun cleaning. County Precinct 1 Commissioner Robert Walker’s team once again prepared barbeque lunch for all participants.

The award winners at Shootout Hunger 2025 were:

- Top Male Shooter: Jeff Cannon
- Top Female Shooter: Katie Heckt
- 1st Place Team (tie): Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough & Prosperity Bank
- 2nd Place Team: Rogue Waste Recovery & Environmental Inc.
