THE WOODLANDS, TX – With Texas District 4 State Senator Brandon Creighton’s recent resignation to become Chancellor of Texas Tech, an opening has appeared on the ballot to replace him during the legislative recess until next year. Brett Ligon, the longest-serving district attorney in the history of Montgomery County, has himself tendered his resignation from his position to run for the state senate seat.

According to Ligon’s campaign page, Ligon has stood on the front lines of law and order for 17 years as Montgomery County District Attorney, earning a reputation as a fearless defender of public safety and principled conservative leadership. Guided by the motto, “Let justice be done though the heavens fall,” he has never wavered in his mission: protecting Texans and delivering justice without compromise.

Ligon has already secured endorsements from Montgomery County Sheriff Wesley Doolittle and all five Montgomery County Precinct Constables – Philip Cash, David Eason, Ryan Gable, Rowdy Hayden, and Christopher Jones.

When contacted by Woodlands Online, the District Attorney’s Office stated that further information would be coming very soon, as soon as certain issues – such as conversations with Texas Governor Greg Abbott – were addressed, including who would be put in Ligon’s place as district attorney, even for an interim position.

Woodlands Online will bring updates to this developing story as they occur.
