Sunny days and sultry temperatures are the theme of the week. As we inch ever closer to Halloween and the rest of the holiday season, some places are already kicking up the fall festivities. Here’s a sampling of just a few of the many things you can enjoy this week around the Township!

Tuesday, October 7
Business After Hours is a complimentary social presented by The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce providing you with opportunities to meet, mingle, and build relationships with other area business professionals. Business After Hours rotates to different Chamber Member business locations monthly. This month, the fun takes place at Acqua Restaurant & Lounge at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center. This event is complimentary for Chamber members and only $20 for non-members.

Wednesday, October 8
Houston Grand Opera’s Storybook presentation of Lula the Mighty Griot takes place today at The Woodlands Children’s Museum at 11:00 a.m. Have you ever wondered why your legs bend in the middle? Or why your knees kiss just a bit? In this 25-minute storybook opera, young audiences will learn the myth of Lula The Mighty Griot. Her ability to take on the alligators that threaten her town teaches young viewers self-acceptance, confidence, and the power of the everyday story. Included in the price of admission, which is $9 for adults and children 1 year and older.

Wednesday, October 8
Painting With a Twist offers Hump Day Glowing Willow painting class. Ages 16 and up (with a painting adult) are welcome at this class. Try something new and create your own candle before class; please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to start time if you are making a candle. The studio operates on a BYOB basis, so feel free to bring your favorite snacks and beverages. Please note that you must be at least 21 years old to consume alcohol on the premises. If you’re attending with a group but making individual reservations, provide them with your group’s name and they’ll ensure you’re seated together.

Come join The Classy Cork Wine Room for their Italian Sips & Bites wine tasting event with guest host, Francessca of Vinello. The morning sun will rise over Northshore Park as runners from across the region gather for one of The Woodlands’ most anticipated athletic events — the Memorial Hermann 10 for Texas. By 7:00 a.m., the starting line will be alive with energy, whether you’re ready to take on the full 10-mile challenge, the 3.1-mile Armadillo Run 5K, or watch the youngest athletes dash through the One 4 Texas Kids’ Fun Run. But the finish line isn’t the end of the fun. After crossing it, runners and their families will be greeted by a Texas-sized post-race celebration. Think hearty food, refreshing beverages, live music, and plenty of activities for all ages — the perfect reward for a morning well spent.

Join The Woodlands Township for Pumpkin Splash, a unique pumpkin patch experience! Bring your bathing suit and visit different stations to play games. Candy and trick or treat bags will be handed out at check in. Taking place at Creekwood Pool; only $30 for residents, $35 for non-residents. Due to the growing popularity of these programs, early registration is highly encouraged. Programs are available to residents and non-residents of The Woodlands.

Sunday, October 12
Bring the whole crew out to Two Tones Dueling Piano Bar for an afternoon of music, laughs, and all-ages fun at their Family Friendly Sing-a-long Show! This all-ages Halloween-themed show runs from 2 - 4 p.m. Dress in costume and enjoy a special family-catered hour-and-a-half, fully interactive dueling piano show. Food and drinks are available at an additional cost.

Sunday, October 12
Concert in the Park is a popular family tradition of music and fun for all ages! Bring blankets, lawn chairs, coolers and even your leashed pets for a relaxing evening of music and community. Tonight, the season ends with Tropical Steelpan Orchestra performing instrumental variety music for Volunteer Appreciation Day.
