The Woodlands Fire Department Responds to Gas Line Incident at Buckalew Elementary

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- At approximately 10:33 a.m. Thursday morning, The Woodlands Fire Department Engine 104 and Hazmat 102 were dispatched to Buckalew Elementary School, located at 4909 Alden Bridge Drive, for a reported gas line strike.

Contractors working near the school accidentally struck a gas line, prompting an immediate evacuation of students and staff as fire crews arrived on scene.

Hazmat Technicians from The Woodlands Fire Department worked alongside CenterPoint Energy crews to safely clamp the damaged line without incident. Once the gas was shut off, Hazmat personnel conducted air monitoring inside the school and confirmed the building was clear of gas.

Students and staff were then safely allowed to return to the building, and normal operations resumed.

No injuries were reported.
