THE WOODLANDS, TX -- For nearly two decades, Dosey Doe has stood as a cornerstone of Texas music culture. Founded by Steve Said and his wife Joan, this 180-year-old barn-turned-venue has hosted thousands of shows, nurtured rising artists, and given legends a home on stage. It’s more than a music venue — it’s a heartbeat of live music in Texas. One of the few "acoustically perfect" rooms in the country, the vision has been perfected through determination and hard work by Steve's son Brad, and many incredible employees. Steve, Joan, and Brad have built a legacy in live music that has filled our ears, hearts, and lives with magic.

But the road has not always been easy. From the challenges of COVID-19 to the rising costs of touring and operations, Steve poured everything he had into keeping the doors open and the music playing. Then, in July 2024, Hurricane Beryl struck The Woodlands. While working to protect his home and property, Steve was critically injured by a falling tree. It hit from behind. He spent months fighting for his life.

Just over a year later, on September 28th, tragically Steve took his own life. He has left a silence not only in our hearts, but a missing beat in the future trajectory of Dosey Doe. So, that brings us here. We’re looking to our community to help to keep his legacy, and this beloved gathering place, alive. While the family is working tirelessly to keep Dosey Doe "strumming strong" and make Steve proud, the rest of us have a part we can play as well.
Steve built something sacred. A place where people come to feel alive and enjoy great music. And now, you can help carry that torch.
