Entergy Texas powers comfort and savings with free A/C upgrades

BEAUMONT, TX --
In Texas, reliable air conditioning isn’t just about comfort, it’s a necessity. That’s why Entergy Texas is helping residents stay cool and cut costs through its Multi-family HVAC Program. Contractors with the company’s energy efficiency team recently upgraded and replaced 150 air conditioning units at The Crossing Apartments, a low-income housing community for older adults in Beaumont. The improvements were completed at no cost to customers and are part of Entergy Texas’ ongoing commitment to support the communities it serves, not just by keeping the lights on, but by improving lives through energy efficiency and comfort.
For many residents living on fixed incomes, the no cost grades are making a real difference.
Eric Petry, a resident of The Crossing Apartments for more than a decade, said the improvements have been life changing.
“It makes me feel wonderful.” Petry said. “With the new A/C units, my apartment stays cool, and my bill has gone down from about $125 to $75. We really appreciate Entergy Texas helping us out.”
Through partnerships with local contractors and organizations, Entergy Texas identifies hard-to-reach properties and provides essential energy upgrades to customers who may not have the means to access them on their own.
The Beaumont Housing Authority has been a key partner throughout the effort.
“I think our residents are excited because it shows that someone cares,” said Shatonna Rucker, apartment manager at The Crossing. “A lot of them don’t really have anyone. To see Entergy Texas come out and pour into them and their community — it makes them feel good.”
“We’re extremely grateful for our partnership with Entergy Texas,” said Jennifer Gregory, Beaumont Housing Authority vice president of marketing. “Having reliable, efficient air conditioning isn’t just about comfort, it’s about health, safety and quality of life, especially in the Texas heat. These improvements mean more money in residents’ pockets for groceries, medicine and other essentials.”
Last year, similar HVAC upgrades were completed at Pointe North Apartments in Beaumont, marking another step in Entergy Texas’ commitment to improving comfort, reliability and affordability for its most vulnerable customers.
“Helping our customers save energy and money is at the heart of what we do,” said Weslyn Brown, Entergy Texas energy efficiency program manager. “Projects like this show that our responsibility goes beyond power delivery, it’s about empowering our communities to thrive.”
