THE WOODLANDS, TX – Well, you wanted cooler temperatures, you got them, and all that goes with them. Woodlanders can expect some substantial thunderstorms and rain all weekend long, starting overnight Friday and lasting through as late as Sunday evening.

Enjoy some indoor fun as the rain pounds the outdoors

Saturday, we won’t even get out of the 70s for our high, which will hit late in the afternoon due to the high dew point and humidity. Between the overnight rains and the Saturday deluge, expect about two inches of rain to fall. While this won’t be enough to flood houses, it could cause considerable road flooding and slick streets. The lull around mid-afternoon will literally be the calm between the storms, and you can expect an additional two-tenths of an inch of precipitation to fall before the rains finally and slowly taper off throughout Sunday.

The first part of Sunday will be grey and cool, but soon enough the clouds will flit away and the wet streets will start to steam under mostly sunny skies as the high gets into the low 80s. But only briefly, as the mercury will plummet into the 50s for an actually chilly evening.

While Monday will be warm and bright, it won’t last long, as a cold front is right on the heels of it, making for a sunny but cold work week.

If you want to get out of the house but don’t want to get caught outside in the rain, there are some nice indoor alternatives for you. Friday evening, you can head over to Escape in Time for some escape room fun. Currently, there are some slots left open for their 9:30 and 11:00 p.m. sessions. Alternatively, you can get some axe-throwing in at the same location, located on the I-45 feeder road not too far from Dosey Doe - The Big Barn.

Speaking of the Barn, on Saturday night you can catch the soulful tunes of American Idol contestant Kate Watson. Tickets are going for as low as $15. She takes the stage at 8:30, but you’ll want to show up early because the kitchen will be open for dinner, and local teen singing sensation Payton Riley will perform the opening act at 7:30.

On Sunday, you can continue the gloomy weather motif indoors with a spookfest as Carrie: The Musical is being presented at the Owen Theatre in Conroe. Relive possibly the worst prom night in history with this creepy foray into the Halloween season. While you’re there, wander around historic Downtown Conroe to check out how it’s grown lately.
