It looks like today and tomorrow may be the last two days of summer 2025. Henceforth, it will be cooler and greyer (and wetter) with some high temperatures staying in the 70s. Soon enough, we’ll be having to deal with furnaces blowing out heated dust and frozen pipes, but for the moment let’s revel in the transitional summer-to-autumn weather this week with some amazing events.

Tuesday, October 21
Costumes are encouraged for the all-ages flashlight candy hunt at Terramont Park. Bring your flashlight and trick or treating bag to hunt for candy. Prizes will be awarded for best costume and for those that find the hidden Halloween surprise. Parents must accompany children (no charge for adults). Please note: hunts begin at start time, so do not be late or you will miss it! The fee per person is $10 for residents; $15 non-residents.

Wednesday, October 22
The Woodlands Children’s Museum presents The Learning Zoo Animal Encounters today at 11:00 a.m. Discover the fascinating world of various animals through this hands-on, interactive experience. Guests are invited to explore and learn intriguing characteristics and fascinating facts about mammals, insects, and reptiles. Included in the price of admission, which is $9 for adults and children 1 year and older.

Get ready to kick off Halloween in the most magical way! The Hocus Pocus Pops returns this fall, bringing a spirited blend of music, costumes, and candy to The Woodlands. Hosted by the Houston Symphony, this family-friendly favorite invites guests of all ages to enjoy a night full of spooky delight at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion— and best of all, it’s absolutely free! Before the music even starts, families can dive into a cauldron of fun starting at 5:30 PM. The North and South Plazas will be packed with trick-or-treating stations, ghoulish games, and creepy-cute crafts. Whether you’re on the hunt for candy or just soaking up the eerie atmosphere, there's something for everyone. At 7:00 p.m., the Houston Symphony takes the stage for a hauntingly beautiful performance featuring spooky classics and Halloween-themed favorites. Expect surprises, sing-alongs, and maybe even a few musical frights! Everyone is encouraged to come dressed in their Halloween best. The first 100 boys and ghouls (ages 12 and under) to check in at Hocus Pocus Central in the North Plaza — fully costumed, of course — will get the chance to strut their spooky stuff on stage in the Goblin Parade. Wristbands are required to participate and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
