Sun. Rain. Hot. Cold. Windy. Still. Welcome to January of 2026. We’re getting a full year’s worth of weather in one week. What a way to kick off the new year! Here are some incredible events to go along with the ever-changing weather.
Monday, January 5
Not sure where to begin with your digital camera? Check out the ‘Basic Digital Photography’ class at Precision Camera. This class will cover what you need to get started. Focus will be on digital cameras covering basic camera operation, digital photo concepts like using flash and composition, recommended accessories to enhance your picture taking, and how to get your images in the computer. Especially beneficial for people who received their camera as a gift or did not purchase it from Precision Camera.

Business owners need to check out a perfect networking event courtesy of The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce. Business After Hours is a complimentary social providing you with opportunities to meet, mingle, and build relationships with other area business professionals. Business After Hours rotates to different Chamber Member business locations monthly; this month’s gathering is sponsored by the Tough Law Firm, PLLC. Reservations are required, and the event is complimentary to Chamber members and only $20 for non-members.

Start your new year with a bang and a whistle at The Woodlands Children’s Museum as they bring the excitement of the circus to life with a miniature model train display. Created by the All Points North Model Railroad Association, children can enjoy the greatest show on wheels with the vibrant HO-scale layout featuring a Ferris wheel, carousel, roller coaster, moving parade, and an animated big top tent, complete with hundreds of miniature people enjoying the sights and sounds of the carnival. Additional circus- and train- themed activities are planned throughout the week, including art projects that allow children to create a keepsake of their visit. Included in the price of admission, which is $9 for adults and children 1 year and older.

Wednesday, January 7
It’s time for Open Jam Wednesday at the Blue Lion Pub. Any and all musicians are welcome. You can perform by yourself or with your group in an open mic setting, and / or you can come and sit in with any of the musicians performing. This is a great way to network with local acts whether you’re just looking to get some stage time or looking for musicians to play with or looking to book gigs.

Painting with a Twist is offering a ‘Buy 1 Seat, Get 1 Seat 25% OFF Date Night’ special tonight starting at 7:00 p.m. Ages 16 and up (with a painting adult) are welcome at this class; both seats must be purchased at the same time to get the discount. Try something new and create your own candle before class! The studio operates on a BYOB basis, so feel free to bring your favorite snacks and beverages. Please note that you must be at least 21 years old to consume alcohol on the premises.

Sign your little athletes up for Mini Kickers Winter Camp running Friday and Saturday at HTX Soccer. Players will participate in fun small sided games and will focus on the soccer fundamentals of the game which include their agility, balance and coordination. Camp price is only $50 for kiddos born between 2020 - 2022. Taking place at Bear Branch Sportfields.

Woodlands Sportsplex is hosting a Preschool Open Gym today from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Only $20 per student aged 18 months - 5 years. Note that a guardian must be present throughout open gym if under the age of 2. Kiddos 3 - 5 years old must be potty trained. Enrollment is quick and easy!

Join the Township Parks & Rec Department at Rob Fleming Rec Center for a fun-filled monthly bingo night with your family and friends. Prizes will awarded for good bingos. Concessions will be available for purchase. Due to the event selling out, preregistration is highly recommended.
The fee per person is only $5. Programs are available to residents and non-residents of The Woodlands.
