US Senior Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the US
CONROE, TX -- US Senior Pickleball (USSP) is a national organization serving players aged 50 and older. They will be at the Conroe336 pickleball facility February 13-15 for the “Lake Conroe Senior Valentine Shootout presented by Ciro’s Italian Grill.”
“USSP is such a great organization for our active seniors”, said Todd James, tournament organizer and USSP Ambassador.
“Being able to compete against other players in the same age group benefits everyone.
If you’re a 60-year-old, you don't want to play against a 20-year-old in a tournament; you want to compete against other 60-year-olds.”
James has been directing USSP-approved tournaments in the greater Houston area since 2020 and has seen tremendous growth in senior participation.
“Over the 40 USSP tournaments we’ve directed, the group that has really evolved in the last 3 years has been the 70+ age group,” said James.
“Now that they know they will be competing against other 70-year-olds, they are more likely to come out and spend an afternoon playing against players their own age.
Competition and socialization are two key benefits of USSP tournaments, where players come together for friendly competition and camaraderie.
“We have doubles and mix teams where partners are driving from Corpus Christi and Austin to play with each other in a Montgomery tournament,” said James.
Sponsorships for USSP tournaments are also a valuable opportunity for local companies to target a specialized group with discretionary income at a single location over a multi-day tournament.
