CONROE, TX -- On January 27th, 2026, at approximately 3:26 a.m., a Grand Central Park resident found that his vehicle had just been stolen from his driveway and called for help. Conroe patrol officers quickly responded and immediately initiated recovery methods, including alerting agencies in the area. The vehicle was found to have already left Montgomery County but was currently located in the jurisdiction of Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office. When contacted for assistance, PCT 4 deputies immediately went into action and located the stolen vehicle. After a brief vehicle pursuit, the suspect decided to run on foot and was arrested. He was ultimately apprehended by PCT 4 - K9 Unit “Mattress Mack” (named after the Houston businessman and local benefactor).

During this same timeframe, a second report of a stolen Chevrolet pickup was received from just a few streets away from where the first report started. Conroe Officers quickly located this second vehicle before it could even leave the City Limits of Conroe. Upon the officer’s approach, a male fled from the vehicle but was quickly arrested. Through a multi-agency investigation, two additional vehicles were recovered in North Harris County, all originating from the Grand Central Park area.

Chief Jon Buckholtz said “Criminal street gangs have intentionally targeted Conroe’s more affluent areas to steal luxury vehicles. Their intent is to bring criminal activity north along IH-45 and into our city, depriving our citizens of their personal security and property.

Yesterday morning, numerous citizens’ vehicles were “shopped” or pre-selected to be stolen during the night. They came specifically for these vehicles. Within three hours, all four have been recovered and returned to Conroe, and three arrests have already been made. Our team, led by case agent Detective Ferraro, are diligently working to secure arrest warrants for numerous additional suspects involved in this organized criminal scheme.
I commend our Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Crime Reduction Unit, and Communications Division for working seamlessly to protect our community. I also greatly appreciate the swift response and invaluable assistance provided by Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office, including K-9 Mattress Mack.”

Conroe PD will continue investigating and will send out reminders and tips to our citizens on keeping their property safe.
