Cowart Says “the Time Is Now” for Third Parties and Independents
OAK RIDGE NORTH, TX-- The Texas political scene is abuzz with news of Democrat Taylor Rehmet’s victory over Trump-endorsed Leigh Wambsganss in the Texas Senate District 9 special election. The upset in Tarrant County - long a Republican stronghold - suggests that the same success is possible in Montgomery County as well.
The defeat of Wambsganss, who raised more than $2.4 million compared to Rehmet’s ~$200,000, should be a wake up call for political parties and voters alike.
“There’s a lot to be learned from the Senate District 9 special election,” Cowart said. “Most importantly, it proves that organized, everyday people can overcome organized megadonors. But it also signals that voters - particularly working class voters – have grown weary of the culture war and are looking for real, meaningful economic reforms that will allow them to keep more of the money they earn.”
Cowart, whose campaign slogan is ‘Fiscal Sense. Human Compassion.,’ believes that she best represents the voters of House District 15 because she champions the best of what the two major parties have to offer.
“The time is now for third party and independent candidates,” Cowart said. “In today’s political climate of government overreach and mudslinging, voters are looking for sanity in the madness. They need to know that there are still candidates out there who stand on their principles and put people before partisan politics – and I’m here to do just that.”
