Woodlands Online to co-moderate Congressional District 2 Candidate Forum Feb. 19
THE WOODLANDS, TX – As the races heat up for the midterm primary elections in March, a host of candidates have thrown their hats into their respective rings for numerous positions.
A hotly contested race is for U.S. Congressional District 2, which covers a vast majority of The Woodlands area after a redistricting that effectively swapped Kevin Brady’s old District 8 with District 2. District 2 is currently held by Congressman Dan Crenshaw and is being challenged by several other candidates, including Texas House Representative Steve Toth of the Lone Star State’s District 15.
The two other challengers in the Republican primary are Martin Etwop and N. Lee Plumb; a sole Democrat candidate – Shaun Finnie – will effectively sail through the primary election and challenge the GOP winner in November head to head.
All four candidates for the Republican primary have been invited to – and agreed to attend – a Candidate Forum hosted at The Woodlands Economic Development Partnership in their offices at 2107 Research Forest Drive on Thursday, February 19 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. The forum will include a debate format co-moderated by Woodlands Online’s news editor Sean K. Thompson and Community Impact - The Woodlands’ publisher Nicole Preston.
At the forum, the four candidates scheduled to appear will field primarily business- and economy-related questions from the two moderators in front of a live audience. The event will simultaneously be livestreamed by Woodlands Online on their website and social media. Due to limited seating, people wishing to attend should contact The Woodlands EDP offices at their earliest opportunity.
Thompson and Preston will also be the co-moderators of the Montgomery County Judge Candidate Forum, presented by The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce’s Business Advocacy Council, two days prior to this event. Stay tuned to Woodlands Online for ongoing coverage of this election season.
