Grand Opening of the Innovation Space at the Kevin Brady Library
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Montgomery County Memorial Library System (MCMLS) is excited to announce the Grand Opening of the Innovation Space at the Kevin Brady Library which is part of the Innovate@MCMLS systemwide initiative.
The Grand Opening takes place on February 19, 1:30-2:30pm,
at the Kevin Brady Library, 2250 Buckthorne Place, The Woodlands.
“The grand opening of the Innovation Space at Kevin Brady Library is very beneficial for our community," noted Precinct 3 Commissioner Ritch Wheeler. "The Space offers multiple opportunities for everyone to create, invent, and build new skills. I am excited about the new Innovate@MCMLS initiative and cannot wait to see what fresh ideas emerge from everyone who uses the podcast studio and creative makerspace.”
The new Innovation Space includes a professional Podcast Studio and a Maker Space. Our first-of-its-kind studio features a digital mixer, professional-grade microphones, individual control panels, high-definition cameras, studio lights, green screen, and other equipment. Moreover, with cutting-edge editing software for seamless post-production, you will have everything you need to produce polished quality recordings. Whether you are recording interviews, storytelling, or video podcasts, we provide the tools to make your vision come to life. The Podcast Studio was made possible with the support provided by Howard Hughes Communities.
Our new Maker Space is intended to help in developing essential 21st-century skills by providing a collaborative environment for hands-on creation, experimentation, and design. This innovative hub features 3D printers with different level of capacity, 3D scanner, a large-format cutting machine, heat presses, a sublimation printer, and other tools. Everything is perfect for crafting, prototyping, and personalized projects. The Maker Space is mainly supported by Vogt Engineering.
“We are excited to open this brand new Innovation Space to the community at the Kevin Brady Library, our first stop of the Innovate@MCMLS initiative,” said Library Executive Director Dr. Janna Hoglund. “It is an opportunity for all ages to experience new technology as they imagine and create."
Our library visitors are welcome to begin using the Innovation Space after completing an orientation session. Orientation sessions begin Monday, February 9 and will include instructions and guidelines on how to utilize the Studio’s and Maker Space’s equipment. Classes may be found online on the MCMLS Events Calendar at www.countylibrary.org/calendar.php. Details about additional orientations, the space usage guidelines, and reservations to book the equipment will be available soon.

Tours of the Podcast Studio and Innovation Lab will take place, along with demonstrations of the equipment. Free 3D printing tickets will also be provided, while supplies last, to give community members an opportunity to try out the innovation tools.
“We are incredibly grateful to Montgomery County PCT 3, Vogt Engineering, Howard Hughes Communities, the South Montgomery County Friends of the Library, and i-SOLIDS Digital Manufacturing for their generous support of the library’s Makerspace and Podcast Studio,” Kevin Brady Library Manager Laci Martinez said. “Their partnership and investment in these community spaces will provide access to anyone with the desire to explore STEAM skills in the Maker Space and amplify their voices through the Podcast Studio. Libraries are more than just books. As an educational hub in the community, we look forward to seeing how these spaces are utilized to support lifelong learning and empower community voices.”
