Mosaics Raises $420,000 at “An Invincible Summer” Gala
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Mosaics celebrated its most successful gala to date, raising $420,000 at its annual “An Invincible Summer” Gala held January 31 at The Woodlands Resort. The sold-out evening brought together community leaders, healthcare partners, donors, and families in support of expanded access to mental health and substance use recovery services across the region.
“I am heart-warmed by the outpouring of support from our community,” said Executive Director Jamie Freels-Runey. “Barriers to access and delays in receiving care can devastate individuals and families – and can even cost lives. Mosaics exists to remove those obstacles. The funds raised tonight allow us to continue answering every call.”
Inspired by the Albert Camus quote, “In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer,” the evening reflected resilience, restoration, and hope – the same values at the core of Mosaics’ mission.
A Growing Need – And a Growing Response
Mosaics provides a single, simple entry point to care: one phone number connecting individuals and families to a Masters-level mental health professional who listens to their needs and coordinates appropriate providers with real availability. The concierge-style navigation service is offered free of charge. This model is unique in Texas and perhaps unique in the United States.
In 2025 alone:
• Call volume increased 44% over the prior year
• Physician referrals increased 23%
• 122 adolescents and families were served through the expanding Mosaics’ partnership with Juvenile Probation Court
Dr. Paulraj Samuel, Board Chair, emphasized the urgency of this work during his remarks:
“Anxiety, depression, and substance abuse meet us in our classrooms, emergency rooms, and living rooms alike. Mosaics was created to cut through the confusion and provide one clear path to help. Even in challenging times, we choose hope over fear – and tonight we celebrate an Invincible Summer.”
Building on its navigation services, Mosaics has expanded direct referral partnerships with independent practices and healthcare systems, ensuring providers never leave a patient without a mental health plan. The organization also continues to grow its scholarship program, removing financial barriers for individuals who would otherwise be unable to access care.
A Story of Restoration
The emotional centerpiece of the evening came from speaker Beau Galvan, who shared his 20-year struggle with addiction and the turning point that led him to seek help after losing custody of his young sons.
Through a Mosaics scholarship, Beau entered residential treatment and began rebuilding his life. He is now three years sober and continues to receive ongoing support for himself and his family.
“Addiction is isolating, but recovery happens through connection,” Galvan told the audience. “You’re not just supporting recovery. You’re restoring relationships, giving parents back their children and children back their parents.”
His story underscored the ripple effect of community investment, extending far beyond one individual to families, generations, and futures.
A Night of Community Investment
Guests were immersed in a vibrant garden-inspired setting, complete with live music, curated auctions, and a Fund-A-Need initiative directly tied to mission impact. Donation levels reflected tangible outcomes:
• $10,000 funded a sober living scholarship
• $3,000 provided one year of therapy
• $500 supported volunteer training for juvenile court
• $165 covered full navigation services for one caller
Event Details
The ballroom at The Woodlands Resort was transformed into a luminous midsummer garden for the gala, where pastel florals, candlelight, and soft hues of blush and lavender created an atmosphere of refined warmth.
Guests enjoyed live jazz and signature cocktails – “Violet Skies,” “Golden Hour,” and the “Rose Garden Spritz” – while browsing auction offerings that spanned luxury travel, fine dining, and exclusive sports and lifestyle experiences. A custom $10,000 mosaic heart necklace, designed exclusively for the event by Robichau Jewelry, served as the coveted raffle prize. Live auction highlights included a Tuscan villa stay, a private chef’s tasting at Amrina, and a live painting created during the evening by Houston artist Taft McWhorter.
The celebration concluded with a high-energy performance by a ten-piece band, as guests filled the dance floor in a joyful close to a night where philanthropy seamlessly intertwined with a shared commitment to restoring lives.
Looking Forward
Mosaics remains a community-funded organization committed to ensuring no individual faces a mental health crisis alone. As demand continues to rise, so does the organization’s resolve to expand access, strengthen partnerships, and meet families where they are.
“Somewhere in our county tonight,” Freels-Runey shared, “there is a teenager going to sleep with a treatment plan instead of a dead end – because of this community.”
