We’ll have nearly a forty-degree range in our high temperatures this week as we come out of a cooler and cloudier weekend and careen closer to spring, which officially starts this Friday at the equinox. One thing that’s as wildly diverse as the weather here is the slate of events; here’s a sampling you can try out this week.

Tuesday, March 17
Sawyer Park is going green with its Shamrock Fest today. This shindig features all you can eat crawfish, dueling pianos, green beer, Irish vibes, and a party all day and night. Grab your crew, wear your green, and come celebrate Sawyer Shamrock Fest

Tuesday, March 17
The Blue Lion Pub will have a special St. Patrick’s Day-themed celebration with Trevor Mock moonlighting as a leprechaun for Trevia with Trevor St. Patty’s Day Edition. Instead of taking over the world, Leprechaun Trevor has narrowed it down to just Ireland. They will have St. Patty’s day themed games with prizes along with Trevia.

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion’s Arts Break continues – days of free, fun arts performances in The Pavilion's Event Center during Spring Break. Arts Break shows are the perfect out-of-the-house event and with a morning and afternoon performance each day, they fit every schedule. Pre-Show activities only add to the fun. Today, with breathtaking illustrations and a story full of adventure and excitement, Maria’s Magical Music Adventure transports readers back in time alongside Maria and a magical musician as they travel to Venice, Italy, to meet Antonio Vivaldi, who has just written The Four Seasons, delighting and inspiring audiences of all ages.

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion’s Arts Break continues – days of free, fun arts performances in The Pavilion's Event Center during Spring Break. Today, the Magik Theatre from San Antonio brings its hilarious, fast-paced twist on Red Riding Hood, where two performers bring the classic tale to life with surprises, laughs, and nonstop fun.

Wednesday, March 18
Breakfast Connections is open to all members and guests of The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce. Members in attendance will be given the opportunity to give a 60-second commercial on the microphone. Guests will be allowed to give their name, title and company name (no commercial time). The event will start promptly at 7:31 a.m. For added publicity, members are encouraged to bring a door prize. The theme for this month is, ‘What do you offer your customers that makes your competition “green” with envy?’ This month’s spotlight sponsor is Project Beacon Texas.

Friday, March 20
The Woodlands Children’s Museum’s Storybook Theatre, taking place today at 11:00 a.m., presents “Mr. Cornell’s DREAM BOXES” by Jeanette Winter. It’s Youth Art Month, and this is a story sure to inspire children to dream and create. This is the biography of Joseph Cornell, who built imaginary worlds and his dreams inside small wooden boxes. He especially loved to share his shadow boxes with children and encourage them to dream, too! Included in the price of admission, which is $9 for adults and children 1 year and older. Cultivate a lifelong appreciation for literature by introducing your child to the enchantment of reading at a young age. Storybook Theatre seamlessly integrates beloved childhood stories with engaging elements such as songs, rhymes, and fingerplays, fostering early literacy skills, and enhancing language development in a dynamic and entertaining manner.

Artists aged 12 and up (with a painting adult) are welcome to Painting With a Twist’s ‘Punch the Monkey’ class. (Note, “Punch” is the monkey’s name; no animal punching will occur here.) Try something new and create your own candle before class. Feel free to bring your favorite snacks and drinks of choice – the studio is a BYOB establishment. Please note that participants must be at least 21 years old to consume alcohol in the studio. Join them for an unforgettable painting experience, where laughter, colors, and memories blend seamlessly.

The Woodlands Township invites residents to bring select items for a free, one-day special collection at the Recycling Drive-Thru located at the Sterling Ridge Park & Ride today from 9:00 a.m. to noon. This free event is an opportunity to recycle items that cannot be recycled in curbside carts. Help by following these guidelines: Bag or box like items together and place in your trunk or back seat. Volunteers will provide a full-service drive-thru, so please stay in your vehicle. No business items will be accepted.
