No tunnel for The Woodlands
THE WOODLANDS, TX – It was announced that The Woodlands Township was not selected to receive a cost-free tunnel system as part of a nationwide competition.
The Boring Company announced on X – formerly Twitter – that the Township was not selected as one of the final winners of the Tunnel Vision Challenge. The challenge included cities and other entities submitting proposals for a mile-long tunnel system.
“While not selected, this process provided an opportunity to contribute to a broader conversation about the future of transportation and to showcase the planning and vision that define The Woodlands,” said Township representatives in a statement on official social media. “The Woodlands remains focused on identifying solutions that support mobility and quality of life, with a continued commitment to evaluating ideas that serve residents now and into the future.”
Instead of selecting The Woodlands, The Boring Company selected the following three proposals: NOLA Loop (New Orleans, LA), Ravens Loop (Baltimore, MD) and University Hills Loop (Dallas, TX).
