Felony Evading and DWI Arrest Following Pursuit

NEW CANEY, TX -- On March 21, 2026, at approximately 5:39 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Deputies with the East Command Hotspot Unit responded to a call for a possible intoxicated driver traveling westbound near North Grand Parkway and Valley Ranch.

Deputies located the vehicle traveling westbound on SH 99 near the San Jacinto River Bridge and conducted a traffic stop. During the course of the investigation the suspect fled the traffic stop, initiating a vehicle pursuit. The suspect continued westbound on SH 99, eventually crashing near the I 45 interchange after colliding with what is believed to be an 18 wheeler. The suspect’s vehicle was disabled by the crash, and the suspect fled on foot across the eastbound lanes of the Grand Parkway.

Deputies pursued the suspect on foot and were able to take him into custody. The suspect, identified as Brylan Dugas, was transported to a local hospital for evaluation of minor injuries and later booked into the Montgomery County Jail on charges of Felony Evading in a Motor Vehicle and Driving While Intoxicated.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the assistance provided by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety, who assisted with the pursuit and the crash investigation.
