THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Spring Creek Chapter NSDAR began our America 250! celebrations with a program highlighting our local celebrities: the Woodlands Bald Eagles. Randy Scott, who maintains the 'Save the Woodlands Bald Eagle' Facebook page, has spent many years studying and photographing our local eagles. Take some time to learn more about our local eagles and our national bird at: https://www.facebook.com/SaveTheWoodlandsEagles.

Lavone Cole gave an American History Report on one of George Washington’s favorite drinks, Cherry Bounce. America 250! Chair Jessica Holland gave a report on Benjamin Franklin and his friend, Rev. George Whitefield—a very timely topic following the recent movie release, The Great Awakening. Jessica also provided updates on our America 250! library display, plans for our America 250! luncheon in May, and our recent $500 America 250! grant. We are using this grant in combination with four other Montgomery County DAR chapters to place an America 250! Patriot Marker at the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park in Conroe.

Regent Gretchen Crawford handed out certificates received at the state conference. We also wrote notes to active-duty service members, attached pins to give to veterans, and delivered 400 bars of soap and 100 bottles of shampoo to the Stone Bridge Church food pantry and signed 6 new applications at the meeting! We concluded by playing a 'Get Ready for America 250!' game and enjoyed the fellowship of being Daughters together. If you are interested in joining DAR, email us at springcreekdar@gmail.com.
