The Woodlands, TX — In anticipation of the America 250! celebrations, the Spring Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) has launched a unique commemorative tribute: the Patriot Quilt Project.
Chapter members are utilizing the intricate art of English paper piecing to create a 'Field of Diamonds' pattern. Each diamond in the quilt is designed to reflect a specific Patriot’s military uniform, featuring their rank, state, and DAR Patriot number embroidered at the center.

The project, which began with a commitment to complete 13 diamonds, has brought members together weekly since January at the Kevin Brady Community Center.

The community will have two opportunities to view this labor of love:
• May: Official unveiling at the Spring Creek Chapter America 250! Luncheon.
• June 19-20: Featured display at The Woodlands Area Guilt Guild Quilt Show at the Lone Star Convention and Expo Center.

The chapter continues to 'illuminate our legacy' of those who served in the American Revolution. Pictured at a recent work session are members Teresa Davis, Linda Crabtree, Gail Bielitz, Jane Herberich, Lynda Sakamaki-Shepard, and Jamie Swearingen (not pictured: Judith Reyher, Laura Womack, and Debbi Kremer). Joining the group in the photo is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) who stopped by during the session.
Members Kim Cantwell, Tenley Shepard, and Jessica Holland have also commissioned custom blocks to honor their specific Patriot ancestors.

If you are interested in honoring your own lineage and joining the Daughters of the American Revolution, please reach out to the chapter at Springcreekdar@gmail.com. We have members ready to help you with your lineage.
