THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Houston Hockey Community Announces New North Houston Ice Rink; Facility to Integrate with Houston Premier Sportsplex to Create Region’s First Dual‑Surface Hockey & Multi‑Sport Hub
For the Community by the Community

Houston, TX MAY 18TH 2026 Houston Hockey Community (HHC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to hockey and multi‑sport programming across Greater Houston, has announced plans for a new North Houston Ice Rink at 232 Barren Springs Drive. The new ice facility will operate in direct partnership with the organization’s existing Houston Premier Sportsplex, creating a first‑of‑its‑kind, interconnected sports ecosystem for families in The Woodlands, Spring, and North Houston.

The two facilities — located just steps away — will work together to deliver year‑round hockey, skating, and multi‑sport programming, dramatically expanding access for youth, adults, and families.
“This is a transformational moment for our community,” said David, CEO of Houston Hockey Community. “By connecting the new North Houston Ice Rink with the Houston Premier Sportsplex, we’re building a complete pathway from street hockey to roller to ice all under one unified mission. No other region in Texas will have a development model like this.”

A Unified Sports Ecosystem for North Houston

The new North Houston Ice Rink will feature:

• A full‑size NHL spec ice sheet
• Locker rooms and training spaces
• Spectator seating and community areas
• Dedicated learn‑to‑skate and youth development zones

Just steps away, the Houston Premier Sportsplex currently hosts:

• NHL Street ball hockey
• Roller hockey
• Box lacrosse
• Roller Derby
• Soccer
• Multi‑sport youth & Adult programming

Together, the two facilities will form a dual‑surface hockey and multi‑sport hub, allowing athletes to develop across multiple disciplines all within the same organization, coaching structure, and community culture.

A Major Win for The Woodlands & North Houston Families

The Woodlands, Spring, and surrounding communities have seen rapid population growth and increasing demand for youth sports infrastructure. HHC’s integrated model will provide families with:

• Affordable entry points into hockey and skating
• Year‑round programming across multiple surfaces
• A clear development pathway from beginner to competitive play
• Community‑driven events, leagues, and family activities

“The Sportsplex has proven that North Houston families want accessible, affordable, high‑energy sports experiences,” David said. “The new rink is the next step and together, these facilities will serve thousands of kids and adults for years to come.”

Next Steps
HHC is currently in the development and capital‑raise phase for the North Houston Ice Rink. A “Coming Soon' Community Ice Rink” sign will be installed at the Barren Springs property to keep residents informed as progress continues.
