Early voting is on for runoff elections this week

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Early voting for the May 26 Primary Runoff Election started this morning and runs through this Friday, May 22. Polling hours are Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., with voters eligible to cast their ballots as long as they are in line before 7:00 p.m.

Important ballot issues still need to be resolved by you

Early voting has the distinct advantage of allowing multiple locations for voters to choose; on Election Day, they must find and travel to their precinct polling location.

During the early voting period, any qualified Montgomery County registered voter may vote at any one of the Montgomery County early voting locations.

Additionally, any Woodlanders residing in Harris County can hit any one of the county’s five dozen early voting locations during this week, but must cast their ballot at their precinct location on Election Day, which is Tuesday, May 26.

This runoff election is for certain primary races in both parties; the winners of these top-two runoffs will advance to the general election in November. On the GOP ticket, voters will select between Ken Paxton and John Cornyn for United States Senator, Chip Roy and Mayes Middleton for Attorney General, Jim Wright and Bo French for Railroad Commissioner, and Thomas Smith and Alison Fox for Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 3. On the Democratic Party ticket, voters will choose for their candidates between Vikki Goodwin and Marcos Isaias Velez for Lieutenant Governor, and Nathan Johnson and Joe Jaworski for Attorney General.

Even this election isn’t the last of the runoffs. There will be an additional Joint Runoff Election held on June 13 for certain undecided municipal races, with early voting commencing on Monday, June 1. After that, the next scheduled voting period is the general election being held on Tuesday, November 3, with early voting commencing on October 19.
