THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB), a statewide nonprofit dedicated to environmental and community improvement, has once again recognized The Woodlands Township as a Gold Star Affiliate. This marks the fifth consecutive year The Woodlands Township has earned this prestigious distinction, highlighting its ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Township Recognized as Gold Star Affiliate

Gold Star status is awarded to affiliates that stand out as green leaders in their communities, driving measurable impact through sustained programs, strong partnerships and meaningful volunteer engagement. Gold Star Affiliates represent the highest standard of community leadership within the Keep Texas Beautiful network. To earn this recognition, affiliates must go beyond core requirements, expanding their programming, investing in training, documenting their impact and building strong local partnerships. The designation reflects a level of effort and commitment that sets these communities apart as leaders in creating lasting, visible change.

In 2025, KTB affiliates engaged over 100,000 Texans who contributed to over $4 million in value of volunteer hours based on the Independent Sector value of volunteer hours. The Township played a key role in this effort, implementing programs that reduce litter, promote recycling and enhance the local environment.

The Woodlands Township hosted its annual Recycling Drive-Thru in 2025, during which more than 28,000 pounds of recyclables were recovered. Additionally, the Township has diverted 5,000 pounds of batteries to date through a free year-round battery recycling program, launched in October 2025. Along with these large-scale initiatives, Keep The Woodlands Beautiful grew long-standing programs such as the Invasive Task Force, Adopt-A-Path and Plant for Pollinators.

The Woodlands Township continues to lead by example, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and community engagement.
