Lone Star College-Montgomery lifePATH® program spotlights neurodivergent internships

CONROE, TX -- Lone Star College-Montgomery lifePATH® students took part in the annual Gallery Walk, bringing together business leaders, community partners, educators, students, and families for a hands-on showcase of student development. lifePATH® prepares neurodivergent students to earn associate degrees through a blend of academics, soft-skill training, industry certifications, mentorship and structured community internships.

“The Gallery Walk is an opportunity for the community to see firsthand the skills, growth and potential of our students,” said Dr. Hines-Goosby, lifePATH® program director. “This year’s event placed a strong emphasis on expanding employer participation and inviting new organizations to become internship partners.”

The Gallery Walk offered an open-house experience where attendees engaged directly with students, explored internship outcomes and learned how lifePATH® partnerships are helping businesses strengthen teams while supporting student career pathways. Students shared unique perspectives on how their internships influenced their growth and future career goals.

“Employers are not just offering internships, they are helping build a workforce pipeline,” said Hines-Goosby. “Our students gain confidence and job skills, and businesses gain dedicated individuals who bring value, perspective and commitment to their teams.”

Leyla, a lifePATH® intern at Interfaith Community Clinic, reflected on how serving others helped her better understand the impact of compassion within healthcare and community support saying, “I learned I can make a difference through small acts of service.”

School of Rock lifePATH® intern Jose described how his experience strengthened his ability to collaborate with others and communicate in a professional environment who said, “it helped me feel confident in a professional setting.”

“When employers partner with lifePATH®, they are not only investing in students, they are investing in the future of their workforce and the strength of our community,” said Elizabeth Logue, lifePATH® internship manager. “Our interns arrive eager to learn, contribute, and grow, and many employers return yearly because they recognize the value they bring to their business.”
