How to check registration, find polling location this Election Day
THE WOODLANDS, TX – Today is the day for runoff elections in both the GOP and Democratic Party primary elections. Polls opened at 7:00 this morning and will stay open until at least 7:00 p.m. tonight; the ability to vote remains as long as someone is in line by the seven o’clock deadline.
On the Republican primary ticket, voters will choose between Ken Paxton and John Cornyn for United States Senator, Chip Roy and Mayes Middleton for Attorney General, Jim Wright and Bo French for Railroad Commissioner, and Thomas Smith and Alison Fox for Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 3.
On the Democratic primary ticket, voters will choose between Vikki Goodwin and Marcos Isaias Velez for Lieutenant Governor, and Nathan Johnson and Joe Jaworski for Attorney General.
In early voting last week, only seven percent of registered Montgomery County voters cast their ballots; candidates are of course hoping for a large Election Day turnout today. However, the ease of voting at multiple polling locations stopped when early voting did.
Today, voters must go to their assigned precinct polling location. There are 121 precincts in Montgomery County alone, but some have doubled up in the same location. However, valuable time can be lost going to the wrong polls.
Before you can determine your polling location, first you must know your precinct. While it is listed on your voter registration card, you may not have that available. In this case, go to elections.mctx.org/vrlookup.asp and enter the relevant information.
Once you have your precinct number, click on elections.mctx.org/EDPolls.asp?ELID=95&curLang=English to discover your voting location.
