THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Lone Star College-Montgomery is proud to present a special Katie Mongoven art exhibition entitled “Converging Opacities.” Mongoven is a Chinese American fiber artist whose work investigates and fortifies the space between cultural contradictions through multiple fiber processes.

“In my practice, I explore the Asian American diasporic experience through the perspective of an orphan and adoptee during China’s One-Child Policy era,” said Mongoven. “Through various fiber mediums, I craft identity reconstruction after loss and displacement.”

The exposition is currently taking place at the LSC-Montgomery Mary Matteson-Parrish Art Gallery through July 9, is free of charge and open to the public.

“We are delighted to be able to showcase the work of this amazing artist,” said LSC-Montgomery Art Professor and Gallery Director Robin Griffith, MFA. “Her work is held in public collections and in numerous private collections throughout the United States.”

There will be a special Art Gallery Reception held June 17 at noon with the opportunity to speak with Mongoven who is currently a 2025-2026 Artist-in-Residence at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.
