SPRING, TX -- Mark your calendar to attend The Painter’s “Jonah” album release party concert at 8pm Friday, June 12th at Trilogy Brew in Old Town Spring in Texas.

The Painter is Gideon Bustamante, a beloved community troubadour alternative pop musical singer/songwriter/producer who plans to deliver a self-care songfest that will take the audience through a profound romantic breakup, subsequent spiral into depression and triumphant return to health. He lives in Hughes Landing in The Woodlands, Texas.

Bustamante’s “Jonah” album offers up a raw haunting synth-laden collection of songs that includes a lullaby, an actual voice message from a cell phone, and an irresistible dance track that brings joy and hope.

“The song ‘72 Hours’ is about giving myself the grace to call someone to let them know that I’m putting myself on a 72-hour watch, “explains The Painter. “This is new for me to have the courage to be able to reach out to friends and/or family at the beginning of a mental crisis instead of later when my depression has sunk deeper.”

Bustamante is debut producing his work on “Jonah” alongside producer William Larson with Andrew Mays serving as the mixing engineer.

“In the studio, Larson had an incredible ability to see many directions of potential, which was the secret sauce behind the whole project, but especially for I’ll Call You Soon Darling,” says Bustamante.

The release party concert opening act performers at Trilogy Brew will include Pierce McKonw, Reesie, Nameday, Josh Galvan, Logan Soileau, Indigo Henry and a brief Q &A with The Painter by former area arts columnist Nickole Kerner Bobley.

Originally from Monahans, Texas, Bustamante was an opera performance major at Odessa College who went on to teach theater, voice and music in San Antonio and in The Woodlands.

He has performed at Dosey Doe’s Big Barn, the Red Brick Tavern and The Woodlands Arts Council’s community public art show, Artfeel, where he was the musician in residence for 5 years. He’s also performed at Jandros Garden Patio in San Antonio, Cabin Creek Coffee and Tea in Amarillo and Sugar Brown’s Coffee in Lubbock.

When asked about why he calls himself “The Painter”, he explains it’s all about creating imagery for the mind with his music.

Bustamante’s 2016 single, “Mirror” turns 10 years old this November and tells the story of fighting for oneself. “My manifesto was and still is I will sing and they will feel,” he explains.

“I am still walking this journey of healing myself and invite others to join me.”

The Painter’s new EP “Jonah” and his previous single “Mirror” are available for streaming and downloading on all digital platforms.

Tickets to attend the “Jonah” EP Release Party can be purchased in advance for $10 online or $13 at the door at https://events.ticketleap.com/tickets/thepainterlive/jonah-ep-release-party
