THE WOODLANDS, TX – A dedicated team of 26 individuals from Church Project recently returned from a transformative mission trip to Belize, where they spent a week in June dedicated to service and community building. From June 6 to June 13, 2026, the group traded their familiar surroundings for the vibrant culture and urgent needs of the Corozal District, specifically serving the communities of San Joaquin and Ranchito Village.

The team’s primary mission was centered on construction and youth ministry. In Ranchito Village, the group worked diligently at Casa de Luz, where they contributed to vital plastering and tiling projects. Simultaneously, in San Joaquin Village, the team focused on replacing the ceiling at the Monte Carmelo church. Beyond these physical improvements, the members of Church Project spent their afternoons leading Vacation Bible School programs and conducting home visits, fostering deep personal connections with local families and children.

The mission focused on building meaningful relationships with local children while strengthening ties with community church partners. These efforts were balanced by intentional time for team reflection and recreation, including a guided tour of the region’s historic Mayan Ruins. This mid-week excursion served as a vital pause, offering the group a chance for both spiritual renewal and cultural appreciation.

A significant portion of the trip's success is attributed to the steady leadership of Philip Penney, who stepped into the role of Group Leader to guide the team through their journey. Philip's organized approach and dedication ensured the group remained focused on their ministry goals while navigating the logistical needs of a large traveling party. His leadership was instrumental in coordinating the various construction projects and Vacation Bible School activities across multiple locations.

This experience was made possible by Thirst Missions, a ministry specializing in high-quality, high-impact mission trips that connect teams with real needs. Thirst Missions handles every logistical detail—from lodging and transportation to ministry partnerships—allowing teams to focus entirely on building relationships and serving others in the name of Christ.
