Spring Father Arrested for Child Endangerment After Children Forced Outside in Extreme Heat
SPRING, TX -- On June 22, 2026, Deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office responded to the Everlee Apartments located in the 23900 block of Kuykendahl Road for a welfare check. A concerned citizen reported that two children, ages 6 and 11, were walking through the apartment complex alone without shoes.
Further investigation revealed that the children's father had forced them out of the apartment and left them outside in the extreme heat after becoming upset with them approximately two hours earlier. Deputies made contact with the father, identified as Brandon Atkinson, who displayed multiple signs of intoxication.
The children were safely released to a guardian at the scene. Child Protective Services was contacted and advised of the circumstances.
Brandon Atkinson was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Child Endangerment. His bond has not been set at this time out of the 263rd District Court.
"No child should ever be forced to endure dangerous conditions, especially in the extreme Texas heat. The actions of this father placed these children at serious risk. Thanks to a vigilant citizen who saw something and said something, these children were located and placed in a safe environment. We will continue to hold individuals accountable when the safety and well-being of children are jeopardized." — Constable Mark Herman
